How GetLadle creators get paid: hold, minimum and tax form
GetLadle creators in 33 countries are paid monthly, in Canadian dollars (CAD), which Stripe converts to your local currency. Each commission is held for 30 days, then confirmed if the payment was not refunded or charged back. Once your confirmed balance reaches CA$25 it goes out in the next monthly payout; smaller balances roll over. US creators need a W-9 on file before the first payout; we may ask others for a tax form too. The commission rate is 30% for up to 12 monthly payments.
Hold, then confirm, then pay monthly in CAD once you reach CA$25, with a tax form on file if we ask for one.
The payout timeline
Here is what happens to a single commission, from sign-up to your bank.
- A customer subscribes on the GetLadle website through your link or code and pays.
- The commission is recorded as pending. It is held for 30 days.
- If the payment was not refunded or charged back, the commission is confirmed.
- In the next monthly payout, you are paid once your confirmed balance is CA$25 or more.
This is an example of the order of steps, not a promise of timing for any particular sale.
The numbers in one table
| Item | How it works |
|---|---|
| Commission | 30% of what the customer actually pays on the GetLadle website, excluding taxes, calculated in Canadian dollars at settlement |
| Duration | Each paid invoice, for up to 12 monthly payments; an annual plan pays once, and a free or discounted first month earns only on what the customer actually pays |
| Attribution | A sign-up counts as yours if it follows your link or code within 30 days; the last link or code used wins |
| Hold | 30 days before a commission is confirmed |
| Payout | Monthly, in Canadian dollars (CAD), once the confirmed balance is CA$25 |
| Smaller balances | Roll over to the next month |
| Refunds and chargebacks | The related commission is reversed in proportion; anything reversed after a payout is netted against your next payout |
| Where payouts go | 33 countries: Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and the European Economic Area (EEA); Stripe collects your bank and identity details and converts Canadian dollars to your local currency |
| Tax form | US creators need a W-9 before the first payout; others may be asked |
Because customers pay in their own currency, we calculate your commission on the amount we receive in Canadian dollars. Commission applies to new paying customers, and only to purchases made on the GetLadle website. The Creator Program is web only.
Payouts are available to creators in 33 countries. Stripe collects your bank and identity details and converts the Canadian dollars to your local currency at its own exchange rate, so the amount you receive can differ from the Canadian dollar figure. Creators outside Canada are responsible for their own VAT or GST and income tax.
Which countries can creators be paid in?
GetLadle pays creators in 33 countries: Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and these EEA countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
If you are based somewhere else, you can still apply, but payouts outside these countries are not available yet. We are adding more. Email hello@getladle.com and tell us where you are.
The tax form
If you are a US creator, we need a W-9 before your first payout, and we will email you for it. We may ask other creators for a tax form too. Payouts can be delayed until the form is on file, so it is worth sending it early if we ask. We cannot give tax advice; for questions about what you owe, ask an accountant.
Refunds and reversals
If a customer's payment is refunded or charged back, the commission earned on that payment is reversed in proportion. When that happens after a payout, the amount is netted against your next payout.
Things that can stop a payout
The terms rule out referring yourself or your household, posting links on coupon or deal sites, paid ads on GetLadle brand terms, and incentivised sign-ups. Commission from prohibited activity is forfeited. Confirmed commission from clean sign-ups is still paid if you leave the program or are removed.
No income promises
How much you earn depends entirely on your audience and what they choose to do. As a labelled illustration only, 30% of a CA$5.99 monthly payment is about CA$1.80. That is not a forecast.
How GetLadle helps creators beyond commission
Alongside commission, GetLadle applies a free month of a plan for you when you hit a published monthly target, for example a free Sous Chef or Head Chef month. Perks are non-cash, discretionary, and we apply them for you. They never depend on how positive a post is.
You also get a starter kit of hooks and captions. Disclosure is built into it: #ad at the start of the caption, a spoken or on-screen disclosure in the video, and the platform paid-partnership setting. The FTC says affiliate commissions should be disclosed clearly and conspicuously, close to the recommendation.
Details and the full terms are on the Creator Program page.
Frequently asked questions
When does my first commission turn into a payout?
It is held for 30 days after the customer pays, then confirmed if it was not refunded. It is paid in the next monthly payout once your confirmed balance is CA$25 or more. Timing in any one case depends on those steps, so it is not a fixed date.
What happens if a customer gets a refund?
The commission is reversed in proportion to the refund. If a reversal happens after you were paid, it is netted against your next payout.
Which countries can I get paid in?
Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and 29 European Economic Area countries, 33 in total. Payouts are in Canadian dollars through Stripe, converted to your local currency. The full list is on this page.
What if I never reach CA$25 in a month?
Smaller balances roll over to the next month, so nothing is lost. Payouts go out once your confirmed balance reaches CA$25.
