Recipe apps that pay creators a recurring commission: what to compare
Recipe app creator programs differ, so compare the terms yourself: the rate, how many months it lasts, the hold, the payout minimum and which countries they pay in. GetLadle's Creator Program pays 30% recurring commission on each paid invoice for up to 12 monthly payments, in 33 countries, with a 30-day hold and monthly payouts once your balance reaches CA$25. Read any program's own terms before you join, because they change.
A recurring share of every paid month for up to a year is a different deal from a one-time bounty, so compare the rate, the months, the hold, the minimum and the countries.
Why a list of apps would go out of date
Programs change their rates, their rules and the countries they pay in, and often without announcing it. A list that names other companies and quotes their terms would be wrong the week a program updates. So instead of a list, here is how to read any recipe app's creator program in a few minutes, and where GetLadle's sits.
Six things to compare
| What to check | What to look for | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Type of payment | A recurring share of each paid month, or a one-time bounty | A subscription renews, so the type changes the total a lot |
| Rate | A percentage of what the customer actually pays, and whether taxes are excluded | The percentage means little without the base |
| Duration | One payment, a fixed number of months, or for life | Months are the multiplier |
| Hold | How long before commission is confirmed | Sets when your first payout can happen |
| Payout minimum and schedule | The balance you need, and how often payouts go out | Small balances usually roll over |
| Payout countries | The list of countries where you can be paid | If you live somewhere unlisted, nothing else matters |
Then read what reverses a commission, whether you need a tax form, and what is not allowed.
Recurring commission versus a one-time bounty
A one-time bounty pays a fixed amount per sign-up. Recurring commission pays a share of every paid invoice. With a monthly plan, a recurring share of every paid month for up to a year can add up to more than a single payment, but only if your audience subscribes and stays. Neither is a promise of income: commission exists only when people choose to subscribe.
The payout country question
Many creators lose time applying to a program that cannot pay into their country. Cross-border payouts depend on the payment provider; Stripe, for example, documents which countries a platform can pay into. Always find the country list before you apply, and keep a note of whether it says where you can be paid or only where you can sign up.
Disclosure applies everywhere
Whatever program you pick, the FTC says affiliate commissions should be disclosed clearly and conspicuously, close to the recommendation. Put the disclosure at the start of the caption and say or show it in the video.
How GetLadle's program answers the six questions
- Type of payment: recurring commission on each paid invoice, up to 12 monthly payments. An annual plan pays 30% once.
- Rate: 30% of what a new customer actually pays on the GetLadle website, excluding taxes, calculated on the amount GetLadle receives in Canadian dollars.
- Attribution: a link or code within a 30-day window, last one used wins.
- Hold: 30 days, then confirmed if the payment was not refunded or charged back.
- Payouts: monthly, in Canadian dollars via Stripe, converted to your local currency, once your confirmed balance reaches CA$25. Smaller balances roll over.
- Countries: 33. Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and 29 European Economic Area countries. See the full list.
It is free to join, and approval is usually automatic. US creators need a W-9 before the first payout, and creators outside Canada handle their own VAT or GST and income tax. The program is web only and makes no income promises. As an illustration only, 30% of a CA$5.99 monthly payment is about CA$1.80.
On top of commission, GetLadle applies a free Sous Chef or Head Chef month when you meet a published monthly target. Perks are non-cash and discretionary.
The product gives your audience something to do with your recipes: save a recipe from a link or photo, plan the week, cook step by step, and share with friends in private circles. Details and terms are on the Creator Program page.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between recurring commission and a one-time bounty?
A one-time bounty pays once when someone signs up. Recurring commission pays a share of each payment the customer makes, for a set number of months or for as long as they subscribe. For a monthly subscription, the total over a year can be very different.
Does GetLadle pay commission on annual plans?
Yes, once. An annual plan pays 30% on the annual payment. The 12-month limit applies to monthly plans, where commission is paid on each paid invoice for up to 12 monthly payments.
Which countries does the GetLadle Creator Program pay in?
Thirty-three: Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and the European Economic Area countries. Payouts are in Canadian dollars through Stripe, converted to your local currency. Creators elsewhere can apply, but payouts there are not available yet.
